Youth Group

South Ayrshire Befriending Project  (SABP) has its own young people's committee who meet every two months at a local youth club in Ayr called the ARK .

The young people spend the first 15 minutes discussing any Project business such as evaluation of the service, choosing group activities or helping design project materials.  Thereafter they have time to relax and have dinner with their peers enjoying the facilities including gaming stations, pool/air hockey tables and a craft station.  Members of the committee are given responsibilities such as helping set up and clear away, serving dinner and working behind the soft drinks bar.

Committee members are also asked to contribute occasionally to Board meetings and also to speak to volunteers during their initial training. This group helps young people make new friends and develop their social skills whilst contributing to the Project and feeling valued.
