The South Ayrshire Befriending Project (SABP) is a small, locally run charity based in Ayr, established in 1996 when the need for a befriending service for young people with social or emotional difficulties within South Ayrshire was identified.
SABP supports around 50 young people each year through the provision of one to one befriending and group activities.
The charity receives funding from a variety of grant making bodies, Trusts as well as private donations andfunding support from the Local Authority.
The Project’s full team consists of a Senior Project Co-ordinator, a part time Befriending Co-ordinator and one Project Assistant who together oversee the daily running of SABP. It is managed by a Management Committee of volunteers with different professional backgrounds and their own specific remit within the Project. The Project can also call upon for advice the Local Authority, Social Work Department, Police Scotland and the Scottish Children’s Reporter Administration.
SABP will be proud to celebrate it's Silver Aniversary in 2021.
