The majority of our referrals come from statutory agencies and through the Locality Forum but referrals from voluntary agencies and young people and their families can also be made.

We are always looking for people to get involved with the Project and help out their local community. It’s also a great way of meeting new friends and having fun into the bargain!

Current roles available
The Buddies Project is a parallel service to the main Project which supports young people aged 11-18 years who are socially isolated as a direct result from having additional support needs.

If you would like to make a referral to the Project, please contact our office by calling 01292 264000 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
Any referrals that fall within the medium/high need categories of the Local Authority Social Work Departments eligibility criteria will be considered.
For a Young Person to be referred to South Ayrshire Befriending Project they must meet the following criteria:
be aged between 8 to 18 years old
live in south ayrshire
be socially isolated* (see below)
THE YOUNG PERSON MUST MEET ONE OF THE FOLLOWING
- Be AFFECTED BY SIGNIFICANT SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL OR BEHAVIOURAL ISSUES SUCH AS:
-Challenging behaviour at school, home or in the community
-Be emotionally vulnerable
-High levels of school exclusion or not engaging in any education provision
-Be affected by parental issues
*Socially Isolated -
-Very limited or no positive peer interaction & acceptance
-Very limited or no adult support to access social & recreational activities within their local community
