The majority of our referrals come from statutory agencies and through the Locality Forum but referrals from voluntary agencies and young people and their families can also be made.

We are always looking for people to get involved with the Project and help out their local community. It’s also a great way of meeting new friends and having fun into the bargain!

Current roles available
The Buddies Project is a parallel service to the main Project which supports young people aged 11-18 years who are socially isolated as a direct result from having additional support needs.

Having retired from being a senior economic business development manager, Chris is committed to working voluntarily with a number of youth oriented ventures. Chris is an active Christian.
Alan is a retired Geography and Guidance Teacher. Alan also volunteers for St Leonard's Church as the Sunday School Co-ordinator and Safeguarder. Alan is also chairman for the Ayr and District Christian Aid Committee and has undertaken some other local charity work since retiring in 2012.
Pat has worked for South Ayrshire and North Ayrshire councils ultimately as a team leader in social services. Pat was also involved with a respite group that provided services to young people and their families. Having retired from social services in 2011, Pat decided that she would still like to contribute to the community in a voluntary basis and therefore became a panel member for South Ayrshire Children's Panel.
Judith has been a children and families social worker since 2010. Judith has a range of child protection experience both from within her current role and from previous roles working with children with disabilities and with vulnerable adults.
Irene retired from a career in financial services in 2016 having introduced and led the Corporate Social Responsibility and Community Affairs programme for two banks. She now works on a self employed basis as a consultant for a number of organisations in the finance sector. Irene also sits on the Committee of Troon Leisure Classes, a non profit voluntary organisation whose purpose is to provide non vocational education classes to the people of Ayrshire.
I have worked for Clydesdale Bank for the past 10 years in Specialist Business Services, where I am a Finance Auditor, spending my days on the road auditing businesses for the bank. I have also served 10 years as a Children’s Panel member in North Ayrshire.
SECRETARY to the board
My background is in social work and latterly the regulation of social services. I am now happily retired from full time work. I have been a volunteer befriender for a number of years at the Project and joined the Management Committee in 2017. I am a trained Humanist Celebrant and do that under the umbrella of another charity, the Humanist Society Scotland.
Helen has been involved with the Project from 2007 -2015, as a Project Assistant and is now a volunteer with the Management Committee as Secretary to the Board.
